Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a medical condition that causes infertility in women.
The three main features of PCOS are:
(1) Irregular periods – This means your menstruation does not occur regularly.
(2) Anovulation – Irregular periods are usually accompanied by delayed ovulation OR anovulation (absence of ovulation) in women – this means that the ovaries won’t release eggs (ovulation) as they ought to.
(3) Polycystic ovaries – Instead of releasing eggs, the ovaries become enlarged and contain many fluid-filled sacs (follicles) which surround the eggs.
If you have at least two of these features you may be diagnosed with PCOS.
